A Comfortable State Of Misery
In the modern times, we have achieved considerable ability to manipulate our external environment with the help of science and technology. Technological gadgets have, to a large extent, helped make life comfortable and easy, relieving us of many of the discomforts and inconveniences ass Yet, have all these comforts made us more peaceful or happy?
People in the past hardly ever complained of stress or depression, but these have become almost synonymous with the modern way of life. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that mental diseases will be the greatest health challenge of this century.
Just as material technology enables us to control the world around us, spiritual technology helps us to control the world within us, that is, to control the lust, anger and greed within us. The Vedic society was oriented to make people expert in spiritual technology. This spiritual expertise was achieved through a harmonious combination of education, culture and devotion.
